Taking a big-picture approach, Piping and Pipeline Engineering: Design, Construction, Maintenance, Integrity, and Repair elucidates the fundamental steps to any successful piping and pipeline engineering project, whether it is routine maintenance or a new multi-million dollar project. The author explores the qualitative details, calculations, and techniques that are essential in supporting competent decisions. He pairs coverage of real world practice with the underlying technical principles in materials, design, construction, inspection, testing, and maintenance. Discover the seven essential principles that will help establish a balance between production, cost, safety, and integrity of piping systems and pipelinesThe book includes coverage of codes and standards, design analysis, welding and inspection, corrosion mechanisms, fitness-for-service and failure analysis, and an overview of valve selection and application. It features the technical basis of piping and pipeline code design rules for normal operating conditions and occasional loads and addresses the fundamental principles of materials, design, fabrication, testing and corrosion, and their effect on system integrity.

This book is a must have reference for engineering professionals in the piping system, pipelines and piping engineering career. It's good to have alongside other great piping books like the Piping Handbook by Mohinder Nayyar and Pipe Stress Engineering by Peng and Peng (ASME Publications). I use this as a quick reference from design work to solving problems. It has broad but concise coverage of topics that a regular piping engineer would likely encounter in daily work.

I found this book a very good first step. It is a good review of the fundamentals. It should be combined with any of the ASME B31.X courses applicable to your industry. I am in the aerospace piping business and it is a wonderful book. The author cuts through a lot of the esoteric material in the code leaving you with a good basic book. If you are looking past an introductory book this is not for you. I hope the author pursues writing a PV book also. I recommend you buy this book.

As a Liquid Pipeline Engineer, this is a great resource for industry fundamental topics outside of hydraulics and specific transient studies
